How do I request an IVLS test from Animana?

The IDEXX VetLab Station (IVLS) is a laboratory information management system. It serves as a central hub for managing laboratory results, integrating with analyzers, and sharing information with Animana. In this article, we explain how you can send an in-clinic analysis request from Animana to your IDEXX analyzer and then receive the results in the patient file.

In order to send and retrieve results from the IVLS, you will need to set up the connection between Animana and IDEXX VetLab Station (IVLS). See the related articles for instructions.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Go to the patient file of the patient that you wish to request a test for.
  2. Click IDEXX In-Clinic Analysis. You will find this option at the end of the blue action buttons at the top of the patient file – either pre-selected or in the Diagnostics drop-down menu.
  3. You will see a VetConnect PLUS order form with pre-filled information. Check the pre-filled information and adjust if necessary. Note that the fields “Gender”, “Species”, “IVLS Device”, and “Veterinarian” are mandatory.
  4. If your practice has multiple IVLS devices, you will need to select the correct IVLS device you want to send the request to.

  5. Click Order.
  6. Search and select the test(s) you want to request from the list. Clicking a test once will add it to your order list.

  7. Click Order.

You can now run the sample in the IDEXX analyzer. The selected veterinarian in step 3 will receive a message when the lab results are ready. See the related articles for more information.

How do I favourite tests?

When you are creating a test order via the steps above, you will see a list of all of the existing IDEXX tests. Most likely, not all tests will be available in your practice. You can shortlist or favourite the tests available in your practice, by clicking the star behind it – making it gold.

The starred tests will be available in the tab Saved for easy access.
