Stock wastage happens in every practice, for example because a vial breaks, or a product can no longer be used. Recording these items correctly helps keep your stock accurate and your reports reliable. This article explains how you can book these stock losses in Animana.

Step-by-step instructions
For example, we accidentally dropped a bottle of Metacam 0.5% 10ml. We will now need to book that wasted bottle and correct the stock.
- Go to Extra > Stock > Stock List.
- Check that the location pre-selected in the location drop-down menu is the one you want to edit stock information for.
- Find your product by entering the product name in the “Filter by product” field.
- Click Enter.
- Click the number in the third column (“in Stock”) to open the batch editing modal.
- Click in the field “Quantity” and update the quantity to the current quantity. Should you work with batch numbers, make sure to adjust the quantity for the correct batch. This is box titleIn our example we dropped a full bottle of 10 ml. The total stock was 100 ml so we update the quantity to 90 ml.
- Select a “Reason for editing” in the fourth field. The options are “breakage”, “expiration”, “incorrect invoicing”, “other”, and “spillage”. In our example, we would select “breakage”.
- If needed, you can add information in the “editing notes” field.
- Click Save.
You will return to the Stock List and will see that the “in stock” quantity has been updated to the quantity you entered in step 6 above. All changes are logged in the Stock list history report with your name and timestamp.

Where can I find an overview of wasted products and their costs?
To find out which products have been recorded as spillage in a certain period and what the costs of these items have been, follow these steps:
- Go to Extra > Stock > Stock List.
- At the top, click the button Export.
- In the next screen, select the format preference for your data export. The options are Excel (.xlsx) or PDF (.pdf).
- Select Wastage report.
- Click Export Excel/PDF.
You can find your exported file in your Downloads folder on your computer.
