Animana offers a method to communicate with your colleagues online. This can be used to have conversations between one or multiple Animana users at the same time. This article will explain how to send an internal message to a colleague.
Step-by-step instructions
- Click
at the top-right in Animana.
- This will take you to your inbox. Click Send new message at the top.
- Enter a subject in the field “subject”.
- Type your message in the box “message”.
- Select the person you want to send this message to on the right-hand side of the screen, either by clicking the name or selecting the box in front of it. If this message needs to be sent to multiple people, simply add more recipients by selecting their individual names – or click a user group name below that.

How do I search my received messages?
Firstly, you can use the search box at the top of the message inbox to search messages by subject. Please take the following into account when using the search functionality:
- Seaches are not case sensitive (e.g. searching for ReSuLtS will find messages with “results” in the subject)
- Whole word matches only are supported (e.g. searching for result will not return messages with “results” in the subject)
- Multiple words will be treated as an OR search (e.g. searching for her results will find messages with either “her” or “results” in the subject)
- Use quotation marks to search for a phrase (e.g. searching for “her results” will find messages only with “her results” in the subject)
- Wildcards (special characters such as * or ? that can stand in for unknown characters in a text value) are not supported.
Additionally, to the right of the message search box, you can filter your messages by:
- date; either by clicking in the date field and selecting a date in the calendar or manually typing a date in the date field (dd-mm-yyyy).
- sender; by selecting a sender from the drop-down menu that says “from all senders”.
- type; by selecting a message type from the drop-down menu that says “all”.
- unread; by selecting “show unread”.
Click Clear all filters to remove the filters and see all messages again.
How do I know if I’ve received a new message?
The envelope at the top-right will display a red circle containing the number of unread messages: . Click on it to open your message inbox. Unread messages are shown in bold.
How do I mark a message as read/unread?
This can be done either by clicking /
from the message inbox on the right, or by opening the message and clicking Mark unread.
What can I do with a received message?
Once you open a message you have the following options:
- You can remove the message by clicking Delete.
- You can close the message by clicking the cross in the top-right. The message will be automatically closed, saved and marked as read.
- You can close the message and mark it as unread by clicking Mark unread.
- You can answer the message by clicking Reply. This option is only available for internal messages, not for lab results and the like.
