Within Animana, products can be grouped to make them easier to find, manage, and report on. By default, the product group “administration” is already created. If your practice migrated from another system, product groups from the previous system may also appear here. The product group overview shows the product group name, the number of products in the group, the markup and the price group. This article explains how to create a new product group.
Before you start
You need permission to create and manage product groups. Permissions can be adjusted by your practice administrator in Settings > General Settings > Role Management.
Step-by-step instructions

How do I delete a product group without products?
- Go to Extra > Products > Product Groups.

How do I delete a product group with products?
When a product group with products is deleted, the products are set to inactive. This ensures that past invoices and reports remain unchanged. You can find inactive products in Extra > Products > Products > Show inactive products.
Note that if a product has never been used (sold), the product is permanently deleted instead of being set to inactive. Explicitly important for products which are converted.
- Go to Extra > Products > Product Groups.
- Below the table click Delete not empty product group and the products in it.
- You will now see that icons have appeared next to each of the product groups. Click the delete icon (red bin) next to the product group to delete it.
What is the price group tab for?
When you open a product group you can see a tab for price groups. A price group is a pricing agreement that allows you to invoice a different price for a selected group of clients, for example your staff.
When editing an existing product group you may create price-groups specific for the product group. If no price group is selected, the standard price will be used. See the related articles for more information on price groups.
