In February 2025, Animana will introduce a simplified email-based login experience via the MyIDEXX platform. This system offers security, the ability to log in to other IDEXX applications with just one set of credentials, and support for Single sign-on (SSO). During a transitional phase, the optional MyIDEXX login method will be shown alongside the existing login method, which will be phased out later in 2025. On this page, we will provide you with information about your MyIDEXX account and SSO.
Frequently asked questions
General
Single sign-on (SSO) allows you to access multiple IDEXX services effortlessly with just one login. Centralising authentication via MyIDEXX reduces the need for multiple passwords, lowering the risk of weak or reused credentials; it also saves time by granting access to other IDEXX systems, such as VetConnect PLUS, without needing to re-login, thereby reducing frustration and boosting productivity. SSO not only improves convenience but also strengthens the overall security of your practice.
Part of our responsibility as a software provider is keeping our platform up to date with industry standards. Implementing an email-based login is part of this effort. The email-based login method offers several improvements, including:
- Self-serve password recovery
- Improved location selection and user switching
- Single sign-on (SSO) for seamless access to other IDEXX systems
- Improved security
- Federated identity management
In early 2025, we will refresh the login screen, allowing you to either log in with your current Animana credentials or get started with email-based login. Initially, this new email-based login method will be optional but will become mandatory later in 2025.
We will enable this email-based login for all Animana accounts automatically.
Once enabled, you can create an email-based MyIDEXX login account and start logging in using that MyIDEXX account going forward. You can find instructions on how to create a MyIDEXX account here:
Setting up MyIDEXX
You can find instructions on how to create a MyIDEXX account here:
Note: If you have multiple Animana accounts, create 1 MyIDEXX account. You will link each Animana account to your one MyIDEXX account via your authentication email address.
MyIDEXX requires each user to have a unique email address that is not shared with anyone else. We encourage you to use your individual practice email address if you have one. You may use personal email addresses such as Gmail or Hotmail if you do not have a practice email; however, we recommend that you speak to your practice manager before doing so.
If you don’t have a practice email address nor a personal email address, we recommend setting up an individual practice email address using Gmail or Hotmail.
Only if you give us permission to do so in your e-mail preferences. In your email preferences you’ve set up, you can choose to receive emails related to your IDEXX online orders, courses available at the IDEXX Learning Center, or news about new IDEXX products and promotions. Every email you receive gives you the option to update your email preferences or to unsubscribe. See our privacy policy for more information.
A MyIDEXX account is currently used for placing orders or reviewing IDEXX reference laboratory results in VetConnect PLUS. If these applications sound unfamiliar to you, you probably don’t have a MyIDEXX account.
If you think you have an account, but don’t remember the password, please follow the instructions below to reset your password.
This method can also be used when you are unsure if you have an account. When you don’t receive the email to reset your password, you don’t have an account.
You don’t need to enter an IDEXX account number in your MyIDEXX account, if you don’t have one or if you don’t want to. Logging into Animana does not require you to have entered your IDEXX account number.
If you have an IDEXX account number, the advantage of entering the account number in your MyIDEXX profile is that you can use the other IDEXX functionalities in MyIDEXX, such as the IDEXX learning center, IDEXX online orders and VetConnect PLUS.
When setting up your MyIDEXX account you have the option to add your practice’s IDEXX account number. This is not mandatory but setting this up allows you to benefit from the other IDEXX platform functionalities in MyIDEXX, such as the IDEXX learning center, IDEXX online orders and VetConnect PLUS.
Your IDEXX account number is the same number that you use to place orders with IDEXX and can be found on your IDEXX disposable order forms, test order forms and IDEXX Animana invoices.

Most password managers (also known as password vaults) allow you to change saved application login credentials. By saving your login details for MyIDEXX in your password manager, you should be able to use it as normal. For support on using password managers and changing data, please contact the provider of your password manager.

If your accountant already has an Animana user account, they will need to follow the instructions on how to create a MyIDEXX account:
If your accountant is new to Animana, your Animana administrator will need to create an Animana user account first, including the accountant’s authentication email address. After that, the accountant will then need to create a MyIDEXX account using that same authentication email address.
Yes. You will need to log into Animana with administrator permissions and add the authentication email addresses for each user in > General Settings > User Management.
Please refer to this article: How do I edit a user?
No, the MyIDEXX login is email-based and designed around the latest security standards. A MyIDEXX account needs to be linked to individual users based on the authentication email address setup in their Animana user data. This allows you to have full control over who has access to your account. Animana administrators can review what email addresses are being used by staff in > General Settings > User Management.

Using MyIDEXX
With this change we’ve simplified the user switch for users that have access to multiple user profiles. First, you need to set up the same authentication email address for all your user profiles. For more information, please refer to this article: How do I edit a user?
Then, create a single MyIDEXX account with your authentication email address. For more information, please refer to this article: How do I create a MyIDEXX account?
Finally, when you log into Animana using the MyIDEXX method, you will see a user selection page where you can select which of your profiles you wish to use. To change profiles, click on your name on the top right.
With the introduction of email-based login we’ve simplified the account switch process for users that have access to multiple Animana practice accounts. When your authentication email address is setup in all your user profiles and you log on using MyIDEXX, simply select the account you want to log into on the account selection page or click on the account name next to your location in the top right, and select your preferred Animana practice account to switch to.
Yes, you can. The functionality to switch locations hasn’t been impacted by this change.
Did you know you can setup a default location that automatically logs you in to your preferred or most used location? Please refer to this article for more information: How do I edit a user?

No, this change will not impact your CalDAV connection.
In an earlier release, there have been updates to the CalDAV setup. If you experience issues with synchronising your calendar with your iPhone, please refer to this article to check your setup: How do I synchronise my appointments with my iPhone?
No, this is no longer possible. Your login will be session-based, so all Animana tabs open in the same browser will share the same credentials. If you want to switch to a different user, you need to log out. You can use the logout button in the top right to log out and return to the login page or press Ctrl+Alt+L (Windows) or Ctrl+Option+L (Mac) to log out of Animana. The other user can then log in using their (MyIDEXX) account credentials.
No, MyIDEXX requires both an email address and a password to log in.
During a transitional phase, the optional MyIDEXX login method will be shown alongside the existing login method, which will be phased out later in 2025.
With the existing login method you will not be able to benefit from the new functionality introduced with this change:
- Self-serve password recovery
- Improved location selection and user switching
- Single sign-on (SSO) for seamless access to other IDEXX systems
- Improved security
- Federated identity management
During the course of 2025 we will inform you when the current login will be permanently replaced by the new method and the existing login can no longer be utilised.
Yes, as with any other software application, it is necessary to log out to close an active session and not leave your data unattended. We recommend always setting the logout time to the shortest possible time. This ensures that Animana automatically shuts down if the computer is left unattended. This way, you make it difficult for others to gain unwanted access to your customer data and other data.
More information on setting up an automatic log out time can be found in this article: How do I change the automatic log out time?
At IDEXX, ensuring compliance with GDPR and maintaining data security standards is our highest priority. On the Animana login screen, we implement CAPTCHA, a standard security feature that helps protect against unauthorised access. Occasionally, CAPTCHA may appear if multiple failed login attempts or unusual activity is detected. To continue, please answer the CAPTCHA question to proceed with your login.
